A large non-profit organization is currently seeking family care providers to provide care and support in their own home to individuals with mental health, addictions, and/or developmental disabilities. We have a high demand for experienced care providers, preferably with NO YOUNG CHILDREN in the home. Care providers must be comfortable supporting individuals with challenging behaviours, mental health issues, and addictions.We are looking for candidates who have some experience providing care to individuals with disabilities or an interest in helping others gain independence. Candidates must be available to provide ongoing daily support and have access to a reliable vehicle.
Prospective Care Providers should:
** Be comfortable working individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals
** Have a minimum of one year experience working with individuals with disabilities
** Have a minimum of one year of medical and/or community support experience (i.e. care aide, nursing, community support work, mental health worker, addiction counsellor, social work, etc.)
** Experience working with an individual with difficult/challenging behaviours
**Be comfortable with addictions and substance abuse
**Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Training an asset
Additional Qualifications (or willing to obtain):
** Emergency First Aid (Adult Care)
** CPR (level A)
** A clear criminal record check
** Food Safe Certificate
** A negative TB test
** A Valid BC Driver's Licence, and a driver's abstract from ICBC
