Brief Intervention and Caregiver Support Clinician (HR330)
At carya (formerly Calgary Family Services), we know that the strength of our community is rooted in its people. That’s why we’ve dedicated more than 100 years of service to creating healthier, more connected communities in Calgary.
With over 40 program offerings for individuals and families, we provide a full spectrum of interactive counselling and development services for people of all ages — from babies to youth to older adults — and their support networks. Our highly skilled team encourages nearly 40,000 Calgarians each year to discover their full potential and build flourishing relationships with their families and community.
BICS Clinicians at carya work to support the care of children and youth who have been removed from parental care and placed in foster/kinship homes, to maintain connections with family, to stabilize while in care and to assist with the planning for permanent options in the future.
This Clinical position will work in conjunction with Calgary Region, Children Services as part of a team from three community agencies. The work takes place in the community and in particular, in the homes with the kinship and foster caregivers to ensure that the special needs of the child are met. The clinician will gather assessment information and provide trauma assessment, mental health support, advocacy, case management, brief counselling, and collaboration with school and community partners. Experience working with Children’s Services and with children who have experienced changes in caregivers is a definite asset. Knowledge of research in the areas of neuroscience and child development, attachment and trauma, grief and loss and resiliency is required.
The ability to work creatively and adaptively with children and caregivers, case managers and professionals, biological, kinship and foster care families is required. A background in high conflict family situations, recovery from trauma and the transitioning of children from one home to another is essential. Additional on-going training is available to the successful candidate.
