Job Posting: JOBz – Youth Employment Coach

Type of Employment: Part Time (21hrs/wk) position is open immediately  

Rate of Pay per hour: $22.00

Closing Date: Position will remain open until filled

The Youth Employment Coach is an expert and an advocate for all things youth.  The targeted demographic are youth with disabilities/barriers to employment. This position will entail reaching out to youth who are facing challenges with employment related barriers, employment readiness skill development and public/employer awareness activities.

DUTIES:

  • Identify opportunities to engage youth in conversation designed to solicit opinions, stimulate debates, clarify facts and other activities aimed at enhancing youth employment skills
  • Identify the interests and concerns of the youth served by JOBz
  • Maintain awareness of social technology and related trends
  • Provide employment support to youth at-risk, facing barriers to employment.
  • Generate business leads and negotiate positions for youth entering the workforce or volunteerforce.
  • Will collaborate with the Inclusion Foothills Employment and Family Support Team
  • Knowledge and education on workplace accommodations and personnel policies
  • Ongoing engagement/networking with businesses and communities promoting inclusive practices
  • Follow policies and procedures pertaining to Inclusion Foothills organization

Must Have:

  • A good understanding and commitment to community inclusion
  • Creativity, Initiative, Innovation
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities/barriers is an asset,
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including good consultation, training and negotiation skills
  • The ability to analyze problems and find practical solutions
  • Keep up with changing technology and social media platforms
  • Enjoy gathering, researching and editing information
  • Enjoy persuading and influencing people to ensure positive outcomes ie youth
  • Be able to provide on-site support for students with disabilities in their place of employment
  • Knowledge of resources available to those with a disability
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills, experience in assessing skills, problem solving and strong Computer Skills
  • Must possess a valid Alberta Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Provide recent Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector, Child Intervention Check and references
