Nature of position:

Alisa's Wish is a child and youth advocacy centre supported by a multi-disciplinary team of like-minded professionals and volunteers who care about the safety and resiliency of children and youth. We have a temporary part time position (until  March 31 2021) that will focus on prevention and education for youth and parents/caregivers to help keep children/youth safe, including information on line sexual exploitation, technology and apps; presentations to youth serving community groups to support awareness of child/youth victimization, and supports available. Includes promotion of Alisa's Wish CYAC in the community and the stream of victim services.

 

Qualifications:

A minimum of a two year diploma or equivalent combination of related education in the  human service field and; experience in working with victim populations ie. youth/children's services and; experience in providing  prevention education and community presentations. Current  First Aid/CPR, positive work references and a clean Criminal Record Check is required

 

Required skills:

The ideal candidate is a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills including public speaking skills. Must possess proven knowledge and ability to work in the areas of: online exploitation issues, technologically minded, and ability to convey/teach skill development to adults/caregivers and youth service providers. Must have highly developed computer and technology skills and the ability to develop promotional materials for community presentations and distribution; Must be able to develop and maintain relationship with community agencies, Ministries and CYAC community partners. Knowledge of the justice system, child welfare, youth/education  is preferred. Knowledge of community resources is essential. The successful applicant will be informed and accepting of cultural diversity, and have the ability to work and support all persons with dignity and respect.
