About the Position:

The Community Engagement Officer is responsible for supporting the on-going operations, management, and recognition of our volunteers across the organization. We look to this role to understand the opportunities available for volunteers and be able to set volunteers up for success with a meaningful role and ongoing support throughout their time as a volunteer. This role will provide full-cycle support (recruitment, training, recognition) to volunteers at annual community events, agency programs, and ongoing in-office roles supporting the organization in a variety of functions.

Reports to: Senior Manager

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the day-to-day management of the volunteers across the organization
  • Communicate updates, news, opportunities, and program changes to volunteers
  • Communicate and work closely with regional staff working directly with volunteers
  • Recruit, organize, train, and recognize volunteers for community events, ongoing office roles, and S.U.C.C.E.S.S. events as requested by staff
  • Deliver annual and ad hoc recognition to volunteers (National Volunteer Week, International Volunteer Day, Champions of S.U.C.C.E.S.S., etc.)
  • Oversee Community Engagement Volunteers scheduling and communication
  • Manage volunteer database (Better Impact)
  • Provide monthly volunteer statistics report
  • Provide support to the Community Engagement Team in delivering membership program requests
  • Complete administrative duties related to program support as needed
  • Attend staff meetings and training opportunities as required
  • Attend community meetings as required
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Senior Manager

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Social Science, Human Services or related discipline preferred
  • Knowledge about local community resources
  • Experience in working in a volunteer or non-profit setting preferred
  • Experience with volunteer management/leadership preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Additional languages are considered an asset
  • Excellent in interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflict
  • A good team player with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent program planning, time management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and basic internet skills
  • Flexible with ability to multitask

 

Other Requirements:

  • Clear Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)
  • Frequent travel within the Greater Vancouver region
  • Able to work occasionally on evenings or weekends
