Position Title:                    Program Assistant, Generation Health

Location:                            Chilliwack YMCA

 

Terms:                                Part-time, Temporary

 

Hours of Work:                 3 hours per week (plus additional hours for meetings, trainings, prep/report writing)

Shift:                                  Sundays 12:30PM – 3:30PM

 

Start Date:                         October 25, 2020

End Date:                           December 22, 2020

 

Salary:                               $16.00 per hour

 

Reports to:                        Manager, Community Health

Nature and Scope:

The Program Assistant will help both the Group Facilitator and the Physical Activity Facilitator. The main focus for this position is to engage and motivate children to participate in activity. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Attend training workshop for the pilot program
  • Participate in regular pilot program delivery team meetings to support the ongoing development and implementation of the pilot program
  • Develop a thorough understanding of pilot program delivery model and resources
  • Participate in quality assurance procedures
  • Maintain a good understanding of and implement local sites' policies including Health and Safety, Child Protection, Data Protection, and Anti-bullying policy
  • Maintain client confidentiality according to established policy
  • Assisting the Group Facilitator and Physical Activity Facilitator in all aspects of delivery of the pilot program including session preparation and session delivery
  • Performing related duties as required

 

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Working with groups of children and adults with the ability to engage and motivate
  • Prior involvement in exercise or exercise sessions is considered an asset
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with a variety of cultures and family dynamics preferably in a family place setting
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective cooperative relationships
  • Able to work a flexible schedule
  • Ideally trained in Run-Jump-Throw, High Five, YMCA Healthy Child Development, Fundamental Movement Skills and/or behaviour change
  • First Aid/CPR certificate considered an asset
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date
