The collective of the Toronto Rape Crisis Centre/Multicultural Women Against Rape is seeking a Bookkeeper/Financial Management Consultant. This is a part time contract position. The length of this contract is 1 year at 1.5 days (11 hours) / per week.


Rate of pay: $40.00/hour


The successful candidate must have the skills and experience required to provide bookkeeping and financial management services.

  • Data entry of staff, volunteers and external supplier invoices and payments
  • Data entry of funds received
  • Preparing deposits
  • Knowledge of general ledger procedures and record keeping
  • Liaison with staff members
  • Update Cash-flow oversee for communication to staff
  • Maintaining the accounting records filing cabinet and annual archiving process which includes ensuring that all required paperwork is accounted for therein
  • Bi-weekly payroll processing, annual payroll reconciliation and T4 printing and submission to staff and CRA
  • Monthly budget update preparation and quarterly budget specific report for staff review
  • Troubleshoot supplies/vendor issues as required
  • Annual Audit preparation and liaison with auditor as necessary
  • Complete the annual Charity and Ministry of finance returns


Financial Management Areas:


            For fundraising:

  • Completing the annual reconciliation analysis between the donation database and the simply accounting database
  • Completing the annual Canada Helps analysis


For Budget Preparation:


  • Centre budget:

Working with the financial management team and liaison woman for budget prep and monitoring


Funder allocation budgets:

  • Preparation of budgets used in the funding /grant applications for both major funders
  • Completing all budget revisions as required
  • Preparing the quarterly budget reports for MAG
  • Preparing the final reports for the budget section for City of Toronto
  • Working with the financial management team and liaison woman around budget issues and attending meetings as required
  • Control issues policy and procedure consultation and implementation in regards to financial management and bookkeeping systems
