Position: Crisis Intervention Worker

Term : Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY: The Second Stage Housing crisis intervention worker provides the women and children with safety and support offering crisis intervention when required, makes appropriate referrals to community agencies such as hospitals, police, Ministry of Child & Family Services if support services are needed. Crisis Intervention worker maintains the security of the building and its residents by making rounds throughout the shift, checking mechanical and maintenance rooms for problems. Cleaning duties are an essential responsibility of the crisis intervention worker. The crisis intervention worker must have good communication skills, both oral and writing, a valid First Aide certificate, be able to work as part of a team, and independently.

REPORTS TO: Spirit Way Program Supervisor

KEY RESPONSBILITIES

  • Ensure the safety of residents, property and employees of SPIRIT WAY Second Stage Program
  • To patrol and monitor property against theft and vandalism
  • Ensure all window screens in units are secure
  • Follow safety procedures if any emergency alarm sounds
  • To monitor access of entries on the video camera
  • Work in conjunction with police and other emergency response teams
  • To maintain nightly log, including incident reports on sharepoint

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completed Post Secondary Degree in relevant discipline
  • Five years’ experience in social service or residential management sector Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid Driver’s License, clean drivers abstract and access to vehicle
  • Criminal Record Check clearance
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Knowledge of and experience in the Urban Indigenous Community
  • Knowledge of the impacts of family violence and its effects on women and children
