Tenant Relations and Human Resources Manager

This position will report to the Executive Director and will be responsible for the relationship between HSLS, staff and tenants.  The Manager will mediate all staff and tenant concerns.   In order to maintain and improve staff and tenant relations the Manager will perform many different duties such as participating in recruitment and hiring, establish and identify work opportunities for tenants, communicating policies, exit interviews, attending staff meetings, liaison between HSLS and Tenants which may involve responding to disputes and mediation. 


The successful candidate will possess the following core competencies:

Empathy, knowledge of Indigenous history, knowledge of Trauma informed practice, awareness and belief in the Truth and Reconciliation recommendations; strong interpersonal skills; good judgment and problem solving skills; conflict resolution skills; tactfulness and sensitivity and an ability to have a difficult conversation resulting in a positive outcome.



Professional Human Resources certification;

  • plus 3 years Human Resources experience;

Knowledge of legislation and Labour Laws;

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office;

Knowledge of Employment Law;

Knowledge of Human Rights;

Knowledge of legislation pertaining to Landlord/Tenancy Act BC;

Valid Class 5 Drivers License with clean drivers abstract

  • Previous experience working in building management would be an asset;


Experience and knowledge:

Demonstrated experience in Human Resources management particularly in employee relations;

Knowledge and application of HR policies involving employee relations;

Demonstrated experience in Tenant Relations and handling disputes.

Knowledge of and experience working in not-for-profit organizations.
