Nature pf position:
This is a part time 28 hour/week position. The Child and Youth Worker will be expected to work with children, preteen and teens that have developmental disabilities. The Child and Youth Worker will work with groups providing social skills and recreation opportunities as well as one to one work with individual clients providing life skills and social skill development.
Qualifications (education and experience):
A minimum of a bachelor degree in child and youth care, special education, psychology or a related field and one year of experience; Or: a diploma in social services, community services, plus two years direct experience working with children/youth with special needs and varying diversity.
Current First Aid/CPR certificate; positive references and; a clean Criminal Record Check is required.
Required skills (knowledge and skills):
Knowledge and experience working with Children and Youth with developmental disabilities. Good communication skills, ability to supervise and participate in various recreational activities, have knowledge of community resources and the ability to work independently as well as within a collaborative team model. This position requires the employees to use their own person vehicle for work purposes. The successful applicant will be informed and accepting of cultural diversity. The successful applicant will be able to work a flexible schedule, working around the needs of the program.
This position requires use of personal vehicle.
This position requires Union membership.
