Bilingual (French/English) Mental health COUNSELLOR/psychotherapist

3 One full-time positions - 35 hours/week

2 permanent and 1 contract (3-6 months)

Location:  Hamilton and Welland

Salary range: $ 58, 412 to $ 74,482, excellent benefits

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide individual and/or group assessment and intervention services to adult clients
  • Develop with the client an intervention plan according to his/her needs
  • Participate in case discussions and service planning with internal and external partners
  • Participate in the design and implementation of new programs to meet the clients ‘needs in the community: needs assessment, promotion and client recruitment
  • Develop and facilitate awareness, prevention and intervention groups and workshops for adults and seniors, as well as recruit participants
  • Organize activities aimed at raising awareness of mental health issues among adults and seniors
  • Participate, as appropriate, in internal and community initiatives and committees aimed at improving the quality of life of clients with mental health issues
  • Participate in the development and application of intervention models that ensure quality services (recognized clinical approaches)
  • Liaise with community agencies to improve access to appropriate services in a timely manner
  • Promote the overall development of mental health for the Francophone community
  • Collaborate with the Volunteer Program Coordinator  when required
  • Prepare reports, maintain records and program statistics
  • Participate in team meetings, staff meetings and other relevant meetings
  • Participate in the clinical supervision program (individual and/or group)
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Education, Experience and specific requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in social work, counselling or other university degree relevant to the practice of counselling and psychotherapy from a recognized institution
  • Member in good standing of a Professional College (OCSWSSW or CRPO ) or in process of registration
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience
  • Experience and practice in counselling and/or psychotherapy
  • In-depth understanding of mental health issues
  • In-depth knowledge of psychosocial assessment and counseling techniques
  • Ability to handle crises effectively
  • Knowledgeable on the mental health community resources available
  • ​Commitment to working co-operatively with clients and members of the interdisciplinary team
  • Openness to the customs and habits of other cultures
  • Excellent organization and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and ability to use basic computer software
  • Excellent knowledge of oral and written French and English
  • Be willing to work flexible hours to meet the needs of clients
  • Have access to a motor vehicle and hold a valid Ontario driver's license
