Nature: Full- time (35 hours per week)

Salary: $29.47 - $31.26 per hour

Location: Surrey Region

Reports to: Regional Manager

About the Position:
The Settlement Coordinator supports and supervises Settlement Practitioners and Program Assistants to deliver settlement services in accordance with contract and ISIP service protocols. The Settlement Coordinator liaises with all ISIP team members to ensure the delivery of outcome oriented settlement programming and provides direct services as needed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports the team to increase their knowledge in settlement information and resources
  • Inspires and leads settlement staff to achieve program outcomes
  • Provides program orientation to new settlement staff
  • Updates, maintains and disseminates current information regarding changes to community services, government departments and procedures to regional staff
  • Organizes workshops, support groups, community connections and events within the Region with Settlement Practitioners
  • Organizes program activities within the Region to maximize client options
  • Prepares contract and agency progress reports in consultation with the settlement team
  • Recommends and facilitates professional development opportunities for staff to Regional Manager
  • Resolves disputes or grievances from clients or Settlement Practitioners and seeks additional assistance, if needed
  • Assists Regional Manager with interviewing applicants for Settlement positions
  • Communicates service trends, client needs and priorities to Regional Manager
  • Takes initiative in dealing with community emergency issues and updates Regional Manager in responding to community needs
  • Leads onsite program evaluation, including creating evaluation materials (e.g. surveys)
  • Organizes outreach efforts with Settlement Coordinators from other Regions
  • Works effectively in collaboration with other S.U.C.C.E.S.S. services


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a settlement practitioner or related frontline service provision
  • At least one year of supervisory and management experience preferred
  • Knowledge of community resources for newcomers to Canada

  • Excellent interpersonal and active listening skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook) and interactive Internet usage
  • Ability in understanding social services programming for immigrant or vulnerable populations
  • Ability to work successfully with clients who are experiencing challenges and hardships
  • Ability to work independently and how to inspire and lead a team

Other Requirements:

  • Clear criminal record check
  • Required to work on occasional evenings and weekends to support staff and programs
  • May be required to travel within the Lower Mainland
  • Subject to transfer to different sites and service regions as assigned by the Regional Manager/Program Director
