Position: Non-Profit On-Call Contractor (Weekend)


Who are we?

  • ConneXions is a mid-sized non-profit organization that provides a variety of services to people with intellectual disabilities.

 Primary Responsibilities

  • The Non-Profit On-Call Contractor is the primary contact person from Friday at 4:30pm to Monday at 8:30am for the employees, families, home share providers and people we support experiencing emergency situations.
  • Most of the calls relate to group home living situations or staffing emergencies.

 Who are we looking for?

  • You enjoy helping and supporting others in time-sensitive matters.
  • You are always calm and clear in communication.
  • You thrive in urgent and emergency situations and handle these with ease.
  • You are competent in the use of basic online platforms plus Microsoft word and excel.
  • Effective oral and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with employees, families and supported individuals.
  • You have had at least 2 years of experience working directly with people living with intellectual disabilities or as a manager in a similar setting.
  • Experience working or managing staff in an unionized environment considered an asset.
  • You can meet the agency requirement of a Criminal Record Check.
  • You will complete the NCI certification at North Shore ConneXions Society in the first 3 months.
  • You already have a First Aid Certification.

 What does the contract entail?

  • Field phone calls pertaining to emergency situations or scheduling situations of an urgent nature.
  • Provide guidance, support and direction to employees, family members, home share providers and self-advocates.
  • Support, troubleshoot and direct staff to take action when navigating emergency situations and ensure appropriate follow-up.
  • Communicate with program managers (and directors) as necessary for continuity and follow-through on incidents.
  • You will be provided with a laptop and iPhone – you are responsible to keep these devices charged throughout the weekend. You are also required to have internet access available for your devices as you will be using ShareVision.
  • You are required to keep all information and conversations confidential as per the confidentiality agreement attached.
  • This is a 100% remote position. You will navigate all situations over the phone and on the computer; you will not be required to go into a home or program in an emergency situation.
  • You will always have a manager or director available to you if/when needed.

 Contract fee

  • $120 for each weekend (4:30pm Friday to 8:30am Monday).
