Adventure Club - Senior Program Leader

 

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Vancouver Island (BGCCVI) is Vancouver Island’s largest childcare provider and is trusted by more parents than any other childcare provider.  The BGCCVI is a registered Non-Profit organization and charitable organization serving over 1000 children, youth and families in Comox, Courtenay, Lantzville, Nanaimo and Ladysmith through enriching programs in 14 club locations.

This is a full-time position with the incumbent being eligible for an attractive benefits package after completion of the probationary period. Reporting to the Licensed Program Supervisor Maria Smallegoor, the Senior Program Leader is responsible for:

  • The design, implementation, and evaluation of the Adventure Club program schedule for children and youth aged 8-12 years old. With a strong focus on healthy living, social recreation, cultural awareness and life skill development.
  • Ensures the program standards, guidelines, and policies of the BGC are maintained and Community Care Facility Licensing requirements are met
  • Work as a key member of an integrated staff team that consistently strives for inclusion, excellence and effective conflict resolution. Responsible for maintaining effective relationships with parents/caregivers and other stakeholders

 

The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Must have completed 20 hours of courses and/or training focussing on Child Development, Guidance, Health and Safety or Nutrition
  • Post-secondary training in Child and Youth Care, Recreation or related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
