Cedar Cottage Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House is looking for an energetic Early Childhood Educator (ECE) who enjoys being part of an early years’ team and is passionate about working with young children in inclusive, enriching, quality early learning environments including preschool, out-of-school care and family programs.

The ideal candidate has their ECE license or is currently enrolled in a recognized ECE program. The position includes direct interaction and caring for young children and engaging with families. This position specifically requires one-to-one support for children with developmental challenges. Ongoing training and supportive learning are available, should there be interest in pursuing an ECE career.

Qualifications:

  • 1-year experience working in a licensed child care program
  • A valid Early Childhood Education Certificate or equivalent
  • If holding equivalencies, must be willing to be enrolled in an ECE program
  • Knowledge of the Child Care Regulations Act
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • A satisfactory vulnerable sector police records check (CRC)
  • Demonstrated ability to implement planned, dynamic and safe activities (including embedded covid-19 safety activities) in an inclusive program
  • Proven experience working in a multicultural environment

Start Date:                

As soon as possible

Hourly Wage:                       

$19.13 to $20.09 per hour (Shared Cost benefits package after 3 months, including a company pension after 1 year of employment)

Employment Terms:            

30.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (a split shift is required for out of school care and must be available between 7:30 am to 12:00 pm and between 2:30 to 6:00 pm). Possibility of additional hours (e.g. full-time hours during school breaks)
