Childcare Supervisor

Wage: $27 per hour

Full Time: 32 hr/wk.

Permanent – at present this is a 10 month of the year position

The Childcare Supervisor - New Beginnings will oversee the day -to - day running of the childcare portion of New Beginnings. The incumbent will work in close cooperation with the Parent Support Worker, Classroom Staff and the Childcare workers. New Beginnings Childcare Program offers both childcare to students on site who are completing their schooling, as well as childcare spaces for community parents.



  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the childcare program.
  • Supervision of all New Beginnings Childcare staff including yearly performance evaluations
  • Providing support to staff which may include: lunch relief, childcare duties and curriculum development.
  • Ongoing monitoring of the childcare budget, including yearly budget reviews.
  • Registration of children, including all ACCB applications and parent fees
  • Organization, billing and connection with MCFD: ACCB program and Childcare Operating Fund (CCOF, CCFRI and Wage Enhancement)
  • Maintains all children’s files, as required through licensing.

Requirements and Qualifications


Education and Certification:

  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check.
  • Current First Aid
  • Early Childhood Certification with Infant Toddler and Special Needs Certification required


  • Minimum of 5 years experience supervising childcare staff
  • 2 years of experience working in an Infant/Toddler centre preferred

Knowledge and Skill Set

  • Excellent verbal, written, and active listening skills able to communicate effectively and respectfully with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge Early Learning Framework and implementation of emergent curriculum
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills able to prioritize competing priorities.
  • Able to work effectively independently and as a member of a team.
  • Up to date knowledge of relevant community resources.
  • Strong computer skills, able to use Microsoft Office365, ACCB/ CCOF/ Wage enhancement portals


  • This position interacts with people in difficult situations
  • The position requires in person services. Social distancing must be followed, and appropriate PPE will be provided.
