                         19.5 hours/week (with possibility of additional hours based on operational needs)

Position Overview:

The Receiver contributes to the generation of revenue in support of various CCS programs and activities by assisting in the safe and efficient operation of each store and in creating a customer friendly environment.


 Position Deliverables/Accountabilities:

Under the leadership of the Manager, Retail Operations (or designate), the incumbent:

  • Practices superior customer service in greeting and responding to donors;
  • Sorts, weighs and clears donated goods from the receiving area in a safe and efficient manner, strictly complying with prescribed protocols;
  • Facilitates the flow of donated items to the sales floor by ensuring that items are available for immediate pricing and assisting with pricing as required;
  • Ensures that items of significant interest are brought to the attention of the Manager or designate;
  • Monitors store aisles to remove obstacles and mitigate risk of injury;
  • Maintains overall store and personal workspace / equipment cleanliness and sanitizing along with co-workers while using provided PPE;
  • Participates in regular mandatory staff meetings and trainings as required;
  • Other duties as required.


Qualification Criteria:

  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Customer service experience;
  • Experience working with people;
  • Knowledge of safe work practices;
  • Familiarity with the non-profit sector an asset;
  • Able to safely lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 30 Kg;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Ability to train, coach and mentor;
  • Clean Criminal Records Check.
