Internship Opportunity Growing Men and Boys Social Service Agency

Reports to: Vancouver Branch Director and National Executive Director

Term: Full-time, 2 months from December 1st, 2020 to January 29, 2021.


Location: Remotely


Remuneration: 2 months, 32 hours/week, $16.00/hour

The Canadian Centre for Men and Families in Vancouver supports men and boys in need with an open, inclusive and safe hub for services, workshops, research, advocacy, outreach and public education all focused on the health and wellbeing of boys, men, fathers and families. Our programs include:

– Counselling and Therapy
– A peer support group
– A legal clinic
– Abuse support services for male victims of domestic violence
– Fathering After Separation or Divorce
– Connecting men and boys with mental health services


The Canadian Centre for Men and Families is governed by the Canadian Association for Equality (CAFE), a registered educational charity.


Position Overview


The Centre Co-ordinator and Fundraiser will assist in the transformation of the Canadian Centre for Men and Families into a full-time mental health and social service facility. 

  1. Assist in organizing and enhancing existing services
  2. Develop and maintain an inventory of services available to men and boys in and around Vancouver.
  3. Develop working relationships with service providers and other agencies in and around Vancouver.
  4. Assist in fundraising, including grant writing and calls/emails to donors.
  5. Assisting in marketing programs and services.



The ideal candidate would have or be working toward a degree, diploma or certificate in one of the following areas or a related program: client management, case management, health services management, social work, social services, non-profit management, fundraising and development, administration, business, social services, communications, human resources, facility management, project management, public administration, public policy, governance.


The candidate should have a high level of written and oral communication skills and work well both in individual and group settings. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in English. Computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets) are desirable.

The ideal candidate should be completely comfortable in making fundraising phone calls to supporters. 


This position is made possible through a Canada Summer Jobs grant.
