Position Summary

The Facilities Technician will be responsible for various maintenance, grounds-keeping and custodial duties such as; providing assistance with the maintenance and repair of the building exterior and interior, physical plant and all building systems of the Family Resource Centre and the surrounding grounds, as well as other CS(C) sites.

Hours/Schedule

Full Time – 40 hours per week. Interested candidates must be able to work evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Completes repairs, maintenance and preventative tasks
  • Assists supervisor with regular review of the condition of the facilities
  • Provides daily log and required records as directed by the supervisor
  • Resolves minor troubleshooting of building systems and completes adjustments/required repairs as assigned
  • Cleans, maintains, and services equipment and tools
  • Organizes and maintains supplies required for site operation, takes inventory count
  • Ensures external property is in a safe and clean condition in all seasons for pedestrians and vehicles by removing snow/ice from sidewalks and parking lots, cleaning sidewalks, and removing litter
  • Maintains the grounds in a tidy and clean condition by mowing lawns, raking and weeding, pruning shrubs and trees, watering plants
  • Completes adjustments and required repairs to The Salvation Army standards and in accordance with maintenance procedures
  • Safely operates all assigned company vehicles and related equipment
  • Performs custodial tasks in accordance with Custodial Standard Operation and Safety Manual

Required Competencies

  • Completed High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and proof of excellent driving record
  • Standard First Aid/CPR Certification (can be obtained after hire)
  • WHMIS Certificate (can be obtained after hire)
  • Vertical Mast Lift Training
  • Minimum one (1) year related experience in building operations, including heat plant, HVAC and general repairs
  • One (1) year experience in year-round grounds-keeping
  • At least six months experience in custodial duties
  • Experience in performing a wide range of mechanical maintenance tasks and building repairs
  • Able to pass a Police Information Check
  • Desire to support the mission and core values of The Salvation Army
