Youth Transitioning Worker

Permanent Full-Time (35 hours per week)

Youth Services

 

The Youth Transitioning Worker will assist youth (15-19 years of age) connected with Ministry for Children and Families Development on working towards independence.

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working with Youth connected to the Ministry for Children and Families Development.
  • Providing one to one outreach support to youth in the community
  • Monitoring curfews for court ordered youth.
  • Responsibility for creating and implementing strategies designed to work toward individual client goals such as the development of social and life skills, communication skills, behavior management skills and increase independence.
  • Responsibility for scheduling report writing and maintaining contact with Social Workers and other community professionals
  • Some Weekends and evenings required

 QUALIFICATIONS
 Education, Training, and Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Child and Youth Care or a related field. Consideration will be given to other related education and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current First Aid certificate.
  • Class 5 Driver’s License, full time use of a reliable vehicle and satisfactory driving abstract.Job Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience working with Aboriginal youth is an asset.
  • Crisis Line experience an asset.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.

* An eligibility list will be maintained for up to 6 months. Eligible applicants may be offered a casual position.
