Job Title:                     Community Mental Health Worker

Classification:             Standard Grid level 10

Rate of Pay:                 $22.68 per hour and increments in accordance with the terms of the Collective Agreement

 

Fraserside Community Services Society invites applications for casual/on call staff for a variety of hours within residential and clubhouse programs that support individuals with mental health concerns and substance use issues.

 

Based on a Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Model, staff will provide support to individuals with mental health concerns by facilitating individualized goal-oriented plan, motivate and encourage individuals with mental health concerns to live safely and independently in the community.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Diploma in a related human service field and one year recent work experience with adults who have mental health concerns; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience; certification in Psychosocial Rehabilitation required
  • Must have experience facilitating groups and coaching life skills
  • Sound knowledge of and commitment to the principles of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and the Recovery Model
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with family members, the community and support network, with team members and the wider agency
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, decision-making, coaching, human-relations such as a genuine concern and respect for mental health clients
  • Knowledge of current medications and medication administration/monitoring procedures
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to working effectively with diverse populations
  • Knowledge of community resources is essential
  • Valid First Aid/CPR, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and Food Safe certification
  • Working knowledge of Windows operating system and MS Word; familiarity with an electronic case management system is preferred
  • Successful Criminal Record Check
  • Open to working in overnight shifts
