As a community, we are all affected by cancer.  To have access to treatment, programs, research and care is of the utmost importance so that as a community, we can continue to thrive and beat this disease.

CancerCare Manitoba Foundation’s (CCMF) mission is to raise funds to ensure that CancerCare Manitoba (CCMB) has the ability to support an internationally recognized team of health professionals who provide services, clinical trials and leading-edge research and treatment to a complex set of more than 200 diseases.  To continue this strong partnership, CancerCare Manitoba Foundation is on an important journey of identifying their next President & CEO.

CancerCare Manitoba is Manitoba’s only provincially mandated cancer agency that is responsible for setting strategic priorities and long-term planning for cancer and blood disorders.  This includes the strategies for the Research Institute at CancerCare Manitoba.  These strategic priorities are supported by the strong partnership and dedication of the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation (CCMF) which is the only organization exclusively fundraising for CCMB.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President & CEO of CancerCare Manitoba Foundation plays a critical role in ensuring that CCMB and the Research Institute continue to have the necessary funding and support of donors throughout Manitoba.

This is a highly visible and key leadership role that will require an executive leader who is passionate about the work that CancerCare Manitoba does.  The next President & CEO will be an effective and genuine relationship builder who will have the proven leadership experience necessary to lead an organization with a complexity of stakeholder engagement in healthcare, government, industry and the philanthropic community at large.

The CEO will:

  • Work closely with the Board of Directors in the continued development of the strategic plan and priorities, ensuring continued sustainability and Foundation growth.
  • Develop strong and collaborative relationships throughout the province of Manitoba with key stakeholders and partnership such as CancerCare Manitoba, the provincial government, community organizations, donors and community leaders.
  • Develop, implement and drive innovative fundraising strategies that address today’s economic realities and the ever-changing philanthropic landscape in order to meet CancerCare Manitoba’s funding needs.
  • Provide senior executive leadership to a professional and highly passionate team as well as provide fiscal and operational oversight.
  • Champion a culture of philanthropy, collaboration and community.
  • Find ways to continue re-invigorating donors, innovating fundraising and keeping on top of giving and philanthropic trends.

Preferred experience and skill set:

  • You have either reported to a board or have experience serving on a board.
  • Your career has shown a commitment to community and you’ve been instrumental in generating revenue or fund-development.
  • You have ten years or more experience leading a significantly sized organization at a senior executive level.
  • You are an influential communicator who excels at listening and engaging others.
  • You are a champion of collaboration, transparency, inclusion, accountability and service.
  • You have a high level of integrity and are authentic in all that you do.
  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree is considered an asset.
