Shifts Available:

Bill Reid Place

Temporary Full-Time (Until March 31, 2021; Sunday-Thursday 2:45 – 10:45pm)

Hyland House

Temporary Full Time (Until March 31, 2021; 7-3pm)

Permanent Part-Time Weekends (Saturday and Sunday 6:45-2:45pm)

Permanent Full Time (Monday-Friday 3pm- 11pm)

Safe, emergency shelters are available to people (19+ years old) who are currently homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless. Two locations are offered: Hyland house in Newton and Bill Reid Place in Cloverdale. The shelters provide support and assistance with:

• Improving life skills
• Finding employment
• Finding housing
• Managing your home
• Integrating into the community
• Budgeting

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills, abilities and competencies that are considered assets in this position:

• Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with people with complex needs, including mental illness and addictions
• Competency engaging and working with marginalized people
• Experience working in the context of emergency residential settings
• Good communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• Awareness of culturally sensitive issues
• Current First Aid Certificate required
• Food Safe Certificate an asset
• Unrestricted Class 5 driver’s license is required
• Crisis Line experience an asset.

Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search preceding your start date.
