HMRV team members are to carry the presence of hope into the city through mobile services and to rescue people from the crisis of intoxication, hunger, thirst and exposure.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Model and the set the pace for the HMRV team members.
Serve, strengthen and uplift men, women, youth and children through to the life changing gospel of Jesus Christ; beginning with Hope Mission staff (paid and volunteer) and spreading into the streets of Edmonton.
Empower others to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and develop an intimate, dynamic and growing relationship with Him
Uphold and model the core values of Hope Mission as outlined in the employee handbook.
Model adherence to all the policies, practices and procedures as outlined in the Hope Mission Employee Handbook, HMRV Policy Manual, and HMRV Job Description.
Hold team members accountable to adhere to all the policies, practices and procedures as outlined in the Hope Mission Employee Handbook, HMRV Policy Manual, and HMRV Job Description.
Be continually growing and maturing in godliness and holiness, modeling a lifestyle of recovery, healing and restoration
Initiate, deepen, enrich, and broaden the network of relationships and partnerships with the services, agencies, and individuals who work with street people
In coordination with the HMRV Coordinator, function as team liaison and spokesman with EMS, EPS, Peace Officers, ETS, AHS, other agencies and Hope Mission administration.
Work with supervision and management in the development of strategic planning, vision casting, policy revision and performance appraisals.
Continuously work in concert with other Hope Mission departments, leaders and employees to integrate services and build team unity and focus; ever seeking opportunities to encourage, strengthen and empower them to be more effective in their work
Transport intoxicated people from the streets, emergency response services, hospitals transportation services and social agencies to shelter
Build healthy relationships with people on the street level by helping meet their basic needs
Increase public awareness of Hope Mission and its work through mobile services
Ensure the HMRV vehicle is washed, cleaned, fueled, stalked, maintained, and ready to be used and shown on a moment’s notice
Be available and prepared to be an effective ambassador of hope and the mission throughout the city whenever called upon to do so
Job Qualifications:
Active and progressive journey in personal growth, recovery, and relationship with Jesus Christ
Excellent understanding of addiction and recovery
High degree of competency in boundaries, assertiveness, accountability and maximizing opportunities
Sense of humor, curiosity and willingness to learn and grow
Superior public service and communication skills
Superior skills in coming alongside people and initiating life changing dialogues
High capacity to encourage and train others to be effective in life and ministry
Deep passion for prayer and crisis intervention
High level of care and compassion for culturally marginalized and underprivileged people
Minimum of Full Class 5 Alberta Drivers with a clean drivers abstract and 5 years accident free driving record
Clean Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Welfare check is required.
Current First Aid and Non Violent Crisis Intervention training is an asset.

Ability to work well under pressure and respond appropriately to highly intoxicated and/or mentally ill people

Physical Requirements:
Excellent day and night vision and sharp sense of hearing
Capacity to adjust to rapid changes in temperature in and out of vehicle
Full mobility and capacity to work with and care for repurposed ambulance vehicles
Ability to help heavily intoxicated stand and walk
