Nature & Scope:

We are seeking a dynamic Manager, Finance to join our team. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Finance Manager is a collaborative business partner and trusted advisor supporting an operations portfolio.  The Finance Manager is responsible for the full range of accounting cycle duties and responsibilities, focused on the financial and operational accounting transactions for the YMCA of Greater Vancouver.

You will ensure the preparation of timely, accurate and complete accounting information and reports to meet both internal and external requirements.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Managing all aspects of Accounts Payable functions and tax filings such as GST, PST, and Corporate Tax Returns
  • Prepare and analyze meaningful financial information, statements, and reports, to provide current and accurate business information to YMCA operations portfolio
  • Support operating managers with annual budget preparation, ongoing accruals and adjustments, and monitoring internal statements and investigating significant variances
  • Problem solve with operating managers and provide guidance and advice on an ongoing basis
  • Create and distribute monthly and year-end financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Liaise with external auditors to provide them with the necessary information for annual audits of the YMCA operating charity and two foundations
  • Supervise 1-2 accounting staff and provide coaching and mentoring to all accounting staff
  • Make business process improvements to support ongoing growth of the YMCA
  • Preparation of year-end audit working papers
  • Ensure appropriate systems and controls are implemented and maintained



  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline
  • CPA professional accounting designation, an asset (or must be enrolled in CPA program and working towards designation)
  • Minimum 5 years progressive accounting experience
  • Leadership/supervisory experience
  • Advanced Excel skills (power pivot and analysis) a must, Microsoft Power BI an asset
  • Experience with Sage 300 Premium preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding start date
