The Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver (EFry) is a charitable organization that supports women, girls and children at risk, involved in or affected by the justice system. Our programs work to break the cycle of poverty, addiction, mental illness, homelessness and crime.

Located in Abbotsford, Legacy Manor is a 37-unit supported housing program for women seeking an abstinence focused environment. Support workers provide awake management of the site and ensure the wellbeing of residents. A planned meal service offers two meals (breakfast and dinner) daily. Women live independently and have access to staff for support and case planning.

JOB SUMMARY

Provides a range of supports, serving homeless/at risk individuals, such as medication administration, crisis intervention, resource acquisition, health and recreational groups and general problem solving.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Senior Worker will provide support to the program supervisor including reporting, petty cash, monitoring of the facility, client admissions and discharges, and supporting staff team, in addition to front line duties.  As a Senior Worker you will support clients in achieving and maintaining their goals.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• A degree in related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 5 years is required for the position.
• Previous supervisory and management experience is an asset.
• Previous program delivery experience in the community social services sector with a demonstrated working knowledge of issues related to incarceration, parole, institutionalization, mental health, drug and alcohol abuse.
• Experience working in a residential facility would be an asset.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTATIONS

• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Willingness to obtain Current Food Safe Level 1 and First-Aid CPR-C Certification
• Negative TB skin test
• Ability to obtain Criminal Record Check for children and vulnerable adults (local, provincial)
• Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
