The Lower Mainland Purpose Society for Youth and Families has the following position available:

Position: Assistant Site Co-ordinator (2)
Wage: $25.00
Location: 40 Begbie Street, New Westminster, B.C.
Hours:

Position 1: 28 hours per week, 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Position 2: 21 hours per week, 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Saturday, Sunday, Monday

Start date: Immediately

The Purpose Society is establishing the Health Contact Centre which is the first safe consumption site in New Westminster. In addition to providing a site where substances can be used safely, the Centre will offer other programs to enhance the psychosocial outcomes of program participants.

Duties:

The primary duty is to support the Site Co-ordinator on all duties especially when the Site Co-ordinator is not present on site.

• Responsible for on-site safety and adherence to program policies and procedures
• Supervises employees, provides information and direction on a daily basis
• Assists with ongoing evaluation of day-to-day practices in order improve them
• Monitor the safety of the site and the practices on a daily basis to ensure everyone’s safety, initiate crisis management as required
• Assists with coordinating shifts and scheduling staff training
• Assists to gather data for evaluation and to report to funders

Qualifications:

• A two year post-secondary diploma in a relevant discipline (e.g. social services, community development, public health) and 4 years experience providing front line, harm reduction services with an emphasis on mental health, addiction, homelessness and/or social services
• Experience developing and implementing new programs
• Experience supervising employees
• Advanced overdose recognition and response training
• Knowledge of common drugs and their effects
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Ability to maintain a non-judgmental and non-stigmatizing approach is required
• Willingness to participate in an on-going on the job and other outside courses
• Ability and willingness to work with a client-centred approach
• Good verbal and written communication skills

• Must be physically and mentally able to be on your feet for long periods, take on physical tasks and work in a fast paced environment
• Must follow Covid protocols, wear a mask and sanitize/wash hands frequently
