The Lower Mainland Purpose Society for Youth and Families is seeking the following:

Program Director, Family Programs

Hours per week: 35 hours/week

Location: 40 Begbie Street, New Westminster, B.C.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and motivate individuals to achieve their best work
  • Create, recognize and support ideas for new programs
  • Oversee existing programs that provide parenting, counselling, supervised visitation and group services to children and their families
  • Develop budgets for new programs and oversee budgets of existing programs
  • Hire, train, and supervise staff
  • Provide clinical direction to staff working with children, youth and families
  • Ensure staff understand and follow agency and program policies and procedures
  • Facilitate program development, including the preparation of grant applications and funding proposals
  • Oversee program outcomes evaluation and reporting
  • Track caseloads using software and ensure that files are maintained
  • Liaise and maintain positive relationships with community partners and funders
  • Provide professional and knowledgeable representation of the agency in the community
  • Develop work plans and provide written reports and other documentation as required
  • Ensure that programs meet accreditation requirements
  • Remain current on emerging trends regarding family development work, parenting practices, early childhood and middle childhood development, and therapeutic modalities

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field with at least 5 years supervisory experience
  • Ability to provide effective leadership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent skills in planning and program development
  • Able to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Experience in contract management
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Excellent ability to work collaboratively and liaise with other professionals
  • Ability to work effectively as part of the agency management team
  • Excellent knowledge of pertinent legislation and MCFD policies, procedures and protocols
  • Excellent knowledge of behaviour intervention strategies and child development
  • Excellent knowledge of family counselling techniques, case management and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience working with at-risk children and families with complex problems
  • Good understanding of the effects of trauma, depression and anxiety on individual and family functioning
  • Experience working with children and families from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Good understanding of program outcome evaluation

Other:

  • Must be able to work flexible hours when required
  • Level one First Aid certification required
  • Must pass a Criminal Record Check
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification an asset
