The Inner-City Women's Initiatives Society invites applications for the following position:
The Inner-City Women's Initiatives Society is a small grassroots Organization located Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. We pride ourselves in providing a positive, non-judgmental, empowering work environment. As part of our service delivery we provide a drop-in/meal program which occurs two days per week. The position involves the meal planning, preparation and service for the drop-in, providing approximately 100 meals per day.
Manage monthly budget;
Prepare donation order on a weekly basis;
Pick-up of food donations on a weekly basis;
Create menu plan in response to donations received;
Plan, prepare and serve 2 meals per week;
Supervision of 3-5 peers and 3 -- 6 volunteers.
Qualification and Skills Required:
Driver's License required; a vehicle is desirable
Experience working in a Community Kitchen setting;
Experience in budgeting;
Experience in managing peers/volunteers;
Ability to provide clear instruction;
Ability to problem solve;
Excellent interpersonal skills;
Ability to create a community/team atmosphere in the kitchen;
Creative meal planning;
Physically fit/able to lift 40 lbs.
This is a part-time position, approximately 10 - 15 hours/ 2-3 days per week. There is some flexibility regarding the schedule.
