Position Summary: The Customer Success Training Program will assist women who were displaced from jobs in the service sector and prepare them for remote work in Customer Success roles within the IT and Tech sector. 

 

The Employment Advisor/Facilitator will be responsible for supporting participants through the training program, assessing their needs, coordinating wraparound support, and facilitating career resiliency training to support successful entry and advancement in the Information Technology sector.  The Employment Advisor/Facilitator will work directly with partner organizations, trainers, and participants as they develop remote work capacity, and skills related to consultative sales, customer success and data analytics prior to being placement into full-time employment in the Tech sector.    

 

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

 

Program Promotion & Participant Recruitment

  • Present the program to community partners and applicants, ensuring they understand the program components, objectives, and time requirements
  • Conduct accurate assessments of applicants based on program eligibility requirements and ensure all mandatory intake forms are completed
  • Recruit applicants to ensure intake of eligible and suitable participants via numerous methods including community partners, job boards, social media, etc.
  • Screen applications for eligibility and suitability factors; schedule interviews, conduct intake sessions, facilitate numerous information sessions
  • Determine participants’ needs and coordinate wraparound services to address identified needs
  • Provide additional information and referral services regarding other community programs as necessary
  • Contact participant candidates to extend offers or communicate regrets and refer those not selected elsewhere
  • Liaise with community partners regarding client referrals and client progress as needed
  • Attend to incoming calls, provide program information to callers, online applicants, and walk-in visitors; track and direct office traffic, respond to messages and requests of partners, suppliers, and employers, responsible for incoming/outgoing mail, email and phone messages

Career Readiness Workshop Facilitation

  • Facilitate and deliver engaging career preparation workshops to equip participants with career resiliency and be ready for the future of work
  • Deliver training virtually or onsite as needed
  • Design, edit and prepare curriculum workbook and/or resources
  • Use leading edge tools and resources to conduct tech-forward training
  • Research and develop content for career transition workshops in partnership with Program Coordinator
  • Coordinate and schedule external training with training partners
  • Professionally present information to participants on topics including Tech industry LMI, information on Customer Success roles, effective job search strategies, job posting analysis, online networking, resume & cover letter writing, interview skills, and appropriate workplace behaviour
  • Arrange and schedule industry guest speakers
  • Manage scheduling conflicts or participant disruptions during workshops in a proactive and professional manner

Employment Advising / Counselling

  • Provide one-on-one support and/or group counselling to participants on employment related topics such as job search, employer research, marketing skills, conflict resolution, career advancement, accepting feedback, etc.
  • Identify barriers to employment and provide participants with suitable referrals as needed
  • Assist participants in the exploration of employment requirements, industry accreditation, and further education/training opportunities
  • Provide industry-specific orientation to the workplace and employer expectations on-the-job
  • Support participants in planning and conducting job search
  • Assess clients’ employment goals and determine next steps
  • Collect and monitor program data regarding participants’ attendance, participants’ case plans, training status, training outcomes, employment status, employment outcomes, etc.
  • Maintain documentation of participant files/database, records of service provided including participant progress reports
  • Create case files in database for all participants including entering data pertaining to education, work history, NAICS and NOC numbers
  • Create service plans for client files on The Career Foundation’s internal database and update information as needed
  • Ensure that 90% of the participants who start training, complete all training components including job placements

Job Retention Services / Job Development

  • Assist with outreaching and securing placements for participants
  • Coach participants during job placements to ensure they retain their positions
  • Mediate on-the-job conflict between employers and participants as needed
  • Advise employed participants on career laddering opportunities and plan next steps
  • Assist participants with re-entry into the IT & Tech industry as needed
  • Provide on-going job placement services as required
  • Complete weekly check-ins with participants while in work experience
  • Purchase and distribute participant supports

 

Qualifications/ Skills Required:

  • University or college diploma required
  • Experience with employment counselling, human resources, partner and/or employer relations
  • Knowledge/experience in the IT & Tech industry or relevant field preferred
  • Must be ‘results-driven’ in nature to achieve program targets
  • Strong understanding of the unique needs of women seeking access into the IT sector
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, including participants facing employment barriers
  • Experience working with employers on workforce development
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database applications
  • Resume and cover letter writing experience
  • Workshop and/or adult teaching experience considered an asset
  • Familiarity with employment programs and services an asset
  • Customer service oriented – able to uphold the organization’s service standards and policies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for giving and receiving information, participating in meetings, and writing reports
  • Punctual, self-motivated/self-directed; professional and possess great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to multi-task / take initiative when needed
  • Flexible to assist team members as needed to help ensure program goals are met
  • Ability to maintain sensitive information, exhibit tact, diplomacy, and good judgment, with high standards of ethics and confidentiality
  • Capable of working under pressure with frequent interruptions; able to prioritize while working on numerous program demands
  • Must be able and willing to travel between locations in the Greater Toronto Area on a regular basis, and work remoted as needed - access to vehicle is needed
  • Must be flexible to work evenings and weekends when needed.
