Job Description

Do you enjoy working with parents and young families ? Come join the team at Information Children. We are looking for a motivated Parent Educator to work as part of our team . The Parent Educators' main role is to maintain and support the organization's primary objective of providing practical parenting information and support to families with young children. The Parent Educator is responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of service by promoting, developing, evaluating, and participating in Information Children’s programs and practices. The Parent Educator reports directly to the Board of Directors and works as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Key Activities

  • Participates in service delivery, facilitation of workshops, individual presentations, Helpline counselling, parent coaching, and other related activities.
  • Serves as a key liaison with community, and government agencies, particularly in relation to their advisory and financial support of Information Children.
  • Provides information and data to the Board for applications for funding of new or continuous projects and other fundraising activities.
  • Maintains agency database and provides pertinent statistical reports on the society’s deliverables for projects and grants, which includes progress reports, or other special reports for the Board and relevant partner agencies as required.
  • Oversees communication, distribution and the development of pamphlets, brochures, flyers; participates in the development of new pamphlets to ensure alignment to best practice; and coordinates printing and distribution of pamphlets.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a Social Science Field (such as Social Work, Family Studies, Child Development, Psychology) and at least three years experience of working directly with families as a Parent Educator and of program management/supervisory experience, or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in a Social Science field (such as Social Work, Counselling Psychology), with at least two years experience of working directly with families as a Parent Educator and of program management/supervisory experience or, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
