About the Position:  CTH is embarking on a major Capital Campaign that will transform its ability to deliver services and programs to clients and is seeking a Full-Time Director of Finance who will work closely with and report to, the Chief Executive Officer to lead this project and the overall financial operations of CTH. The Director of Finance will support the CEO and Board in achieving their agency expansion goals through strategic planning, preparing and evaluating financial projections and analysis, negotiating financing, managing risk, and monitoring construction costs and cash flows. This includes the strategic execution of developing, implementing and evaluating financial plans, cooperative relationships with banks/financing agencies, cash management including investments, and conducting financial analysis or projections as related to the agency’s strategic directions and goals. The Director of Finance will build and manage the financial systems necessary to support Closer to Home’s multi-funded programs, supervise and oversee the functions and outputs of the Finance Department, meet all compliance and audit requirements and ensure excellent financial management of agency resources. As well, direct management of the new building operations, asset acquisitions and management, and vendor management will be in the purview of this role.


About You: You are a proven leader with the ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality. You have excellent problem-solving abilities and are highly organized allowing you to effectively manage multiple priorities at one time. You possess excellent communication skills, are competent in working in a team setting and can develop your staff professionally. You demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness and are results-oriented. In addition, you are passionate about the principles and philosophy of Closer to Home and believe strongly in the mission and vision of the organization.


A CPA designation and experience in the not-for-profit sector is mandatory. The successful candidate must have a minimum of (10) or more years of progressive experience as a Controller or Accounting/Finance roles including management of operations. Experience working with development teams and volunteers on capital campaigns is an asset. You must understand the reporting requirements to funding agencies and the regulations that govern grants from foundations.  A Police Information Check and an Intervention Record Check must be completed upon hire.
