Youth and Family Support Worker

Type: Full Time Contract – Maternity Leave Position

The Boys and Girls Club of Fort Saskatchewan is a nonprofit youth serving organization that has worked with children, youth and families for over 30 years. We are a member of Boys and Girls Club of Canada and offer a range of programs and services for the community. We strive to provide an inclusive environment for children, youth and families of all backgrounds.   

The Youth and Family Support Worker

• Works alongside families to identify strengths, develop goals, and create action steps to address the families concerns/priorities
• Works with children, youth and families to strengthen parent/child relationships and expand the family’s resources
• Provides the family with tools to increase parent/caregiver capacity, increase knowledge of healthy child development, and increase natural support networks
• Provides families appropriate information and referrals, navigate systems to ensure children and families are connected to appropriate community resources

This position requires a flexible work schedule that includes occasional evenings as scheduled to meet the needs of families. 35hrs/week

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Diploma or Degree in Human Services or minimum of 5 years experience
• Strong knowledge of child development, family dynamics, trauma and brain development an asset
• Strong knowledge of community resources and ability to make appropriate referrals an asset
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple requests an asset

Candidates must have or be willing to obtain:

• Current First Aid Certification
• Current Suicide Intervention Training
• Criminal Record Check
• Child Welfare Intervention Record Check
