Better at Home is a program that helps seniors with simple day-to-day tasks so that they can continue to live independently in their own homes and remain connected to their communities.  The Government of British Columbia funds the program, United Way of the Lower Mainland manages it, and SOS provides the services in the Oceanside area.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the Better at Home program.
  • Ensures that the goals and objectives of the program are met and maintained.
  • Assesses the needs of clients to ensure appropriate allocation of services.
  • Provides reception at our Qualicum Commons location, including administrative and office support tasks, and a variety clerical duties.


  • At least one year's previous related program delivery/development experience in social work, counselling or a related field, or the equivalent in education and experience; including client interviewing, preferably in the community-based human services sector.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of community-based programs and related provincial and community support service systems, applicable legislation, and policies.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in office procedures, and computer (MS Word, Excel, Access) are required, including experience working with online reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with policies and procedures regarding privacy, confidentiality and risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and work with volunteers.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, record keeping, reporting and time management skills.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Rate of Pay: Dependent on qualifications/experience (+ Benefits)

Start Date: ASAP
