The Lower Mainland Purpose Society for Youth and Families has the following position available:

Position: Site Co-ordinator

Wage: $26.50

Location: 40 Begbie Street, New Westminster, B.C.

Hours: 35 hours per week, Tuesday to Saturday

3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (3 days a week)

1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (2 days a week, days tbd)

Start date: Immediately

The Purpose Society is establishing the Health Contact Centre which is the first safe consumption site in New Westminster. In addition to providing a site where substances can be used safely, the Centre will offer other programs to enhance the psychosocial outcomes of program participants.


  • Responsible for on-site safety and adherence to program policies and procedures
  • Supervises employees, provides information and direction on a daily basis
  • Ongoing evaluation of day-to-day practices in order improve them
  • Monitor the safety of the site and the practices on a daily basis to ensure everyone’s safety, initiate crisis management protocol as required
  • Coordinates shifts and schedules staff training
  • Completes performance reviews on a predetermined basis
  • Oversees program evaluation and determines positive outcomes for the site
  • Gather data for evaluation and reports to funders
  • Establish relationships with the City of New Westminster, the Police and Fire Departments, other organizations, the business community, resident associations, and others in order to ensure excellence in service delivery


  • A degree from a recognized university in a relevant discipline (e.g. social services, community development, public health), or
  • A two year post-secondary diploma in a relevant discipline (e.g. social services, community development, public health) and 4 years experience providing front line, harm reduction services with an emphasis on mental health, addiction, homelessness and/or social service
  • Experience developing and implementing new program
  • Experience supervising employees
  • Advanced overdose recognition and response training
  • Knowledge of common drugs and their effects
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Ability to maintain a non-judgmental and non-stigmatizing approach is required
  • Willingness to participate in an on-going on the job and other outside courses
  • Ability and willingness to work with a client-centred approach
  • Good verbal and written communication skills


  • Car required on occasion
  • Must be physically and mentally able to be on your feet for long periods, take on physical tasks and work in a fast paced environment
  • Must follow Covid protocols, wear a mask and sanitize/wash hands frequently
