The Communications Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Development & Communications. As the Communications Coordinator you will review promotional materials and contribute to the maintenance of the website. You will organize meetings and presentations, and interact with various internal and external stakeholders to effectively deliver our organization’s message to the public and the media.  You will have a thorough understanding of and the commitment to AdaptAbilities programs, vision, core values, and brand.


Key Functions

  • Collaborate with AdaptAbilities Directors and a Marketing contractor in the preparation, formatting, editing, and monitoring of promotional and marketing materials for platforms such as social media, website, newsletters and press releases and ensure they meet the organization’s brand identity strategy.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of a communications strategy and recommend techniques to improve the agency’s public image.
  • Identify and resolve any issues with promotional content in a timely and professional manner.
  • Serve as point of contact for media and public questions.
  • Prepare and deliver stakeholder communications including email, letters and phone calls
  • Create communications materials such as case studies and presentations.
  • Coordinate meetings and presentations and assist with organization of promotional events.
  • Provide administrative and project support for a variety of communications activities


  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) or Diploma in Communications, English, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
  • 1+ years’ experience working in communications
  • Proven history of editing and writing skills
  • Analytical thinker who is able to analyze, interpret, present and act upon data and trends
  • Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent computer, public relations, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience utilizing office applications like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio & G- Suite
  • Experience working in a non-profit organization is an asset
  • Clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check

Working Conditions

This position is a permanent, full-time position, Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30pm reporting to the Director of Development & Communications. This position is based out of our Head Office in Edmonton, Alberta and is not an online position.

Compensation Package

Salary Rate: $46, 675.20- $50,264.09
