IT Consultant and Tech Facilitator YES 2 Tech Learn and Earn Project-Y2TLE

 

Timeline: Full Time-Contract to March 31, 2022

 

YES is the Employment Champion for Youth. 

 

Established in 1968, YES has the experience and expertise to deliver programs and services helping youth find a job or start a business. Specializing in career counseling and job placement YES is 90% successful in finding jobs, training, and education or business outcomes for youth.

The Y2TLE project will prepare youth for a drastically shifting workforce. With technology, changing demographics and globalization altering the types of jobs available and the skills required for them, we need to ensure that young people are provided with the ability to develop the knowledge, values and a diverse range of critical thinking, communication and information management skills for the digital age in order to give them a competitive edge in the labour market.

 

The Y2TLE project will provide disadvantaged clients with the opportunity to acquire in-demand skills such as a Microsoft Azure Certification, Amazon Web Services Cloud certification, training in future skills, access to mentors, and work experience.

We are hiring an IT Consultant and Tech Facilitator to deliver the AWS re/start component of the program. AWS re/Start is a full-time, classroom-based skills development and training program that prepares individuals for careers in the cloud and connects them to potential employers. This position will also assist with YES’ s technology programming and needs and is a management position.

 

Through real-world, scenario-based learning, labs, and coursework, learners gain the skills they need for an entry-level cloud role. AWS re/Start also provides learners with resume and interview coaching to prepare for employer meetings and interviews.

 

Required Skills and Experiences

 

  • Valid AWS SysOps Administrator – Associate certification or higher
  • One year of demonstrated experience in the following:

-Linux Operation System

-Scripting languages such as Shell and Python

-Networking and Security concepts

-Relational Databases

-DevOps Concept and Processes

  • Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Linux/Cisco certifications are an asset
  • Experience in teaching technical content to a non-technical audience is an asset
  • Two years’ experience in teaching and/or working closely with unemployed or underemployed youth is a definite asset
  • Enterprise workload experience on AWS services an asset
  • Experience teaching AWES content to enterprise customers an asset
  • Work with the program manager to ensure all deliverables are met on time
  • Strong research and analysis, report writing and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based curriculum development
  • Demonstrated interest in the future of work and youth unemployment
  • An understanding of the non-profit sector

Organizational Responsibilities

 

  • Adheres to all YES policies and procedures and ensures confidentially is maintained on client, personnel, financial and agency matters;
  • Represents YES at all times in a professional manner;
  • Participates in regular supervision meetings;

 

Annualized Salary - $75,000.00
