It is the mandate of the Knowledge Mobilization division to facilitate, lead and participate in identifying, connecting and mobilizing people, knowledge and other resources for collective impact and action toward shared goals.
The Associate Director, Knowledge Mobilization and Project Management (AD KM&PM), reports to the Director, Knowledge Mobilization. The AD KM&PM is responsible for assisting the Director in leading CCSA’s knowledge mobilization portfolio, providing oversight on projects related to CCSA priorities and providing managerial support, guidance and leadership to the knowledge mobilization team. The position is also responsible for leading project coordinators on the knowledge mobilization team. The AD KM&PM is a member of CCSA’s operations and directors’ committees and collaborates with other colleagues in CCSA, as well as external partners, to support organizational priorities.
- Actively collaborates with the Director, Knowledge Mobilization, in developing and implementing strategic directions, project development and associated budgets for CCSA priorities and the knowledge mobilization
- Provides day-to-day mentoring and development to the knowledge mobilization team, composed of knowledge brokers and project coordinators.
- Coordinates and oversees designated project teams, as determined by the Director, seeking strategic opportunities and creating initiatives that position CCSA to meet its objectives and enhance the impact of its work.
- Employs a project management approach to ensure projects meet timelines and interdependencies are considered in project deployment.
- Liaises with other divisions to ensure all aspects of projects are incorporated into project plans and timelines.
- Provides strategic advice to the Director on decisions about projects, partnerships and knowledge mobilization.
- Represents the Director internally and externally, as assigned, when Director is not available.
- Assists in hiring and participates in the development processes for work plans and Performance Leadership Coaching and Development.
- Ensures that knowledge brokers are trained on and meet the objectives of the knowledge mobilization framework and project coordinators are trained on various tools and methods involved in project management.
- Ensures quality control of all projects by reviewing and providing feedback on work products (e.g., reports, proposals, presentations, etc.) and project charters before final review by the Director.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Master's in a relevant discipline (e.g., sciences and social sciences, arts and humanities, health administration, adult education, nursing or business).
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience with staff and projects.
- Experience managing multiple complex projects concurrently.
- Familiarity with knowledge mobilization: generation, synthesis, critical appraisal of evidence, product development, dissemination, exchange, management, implementation and evaluation.
- Familiarity with partnership development and engagement.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven abilities as a systems thinker: ability to develop understanding of systems issues, complexity theory, and partner/stakeholder engagement.
- Proven ability to engage diverse audiences and build effective partnerships and collaborations between organizations representing diverse views, disciplines and sectors.
- Demonstrated experience in mentoring professional development of staff.
- Strong analytical skills; process and results oriented.
- Experience writing documents tailored to various audiences, including plain language writing.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload and take initiative.
- Project Management Professional certification.
- Knowledge of and experience with concepts, approaches and practices relevant to stakeholder engagement and management.
- Experience in the field of substance use and addiction or other chronic health conditions.
- Knowledge of sex- and gender-based analysis.
- Experience working in or with governmental, non-governmental and international organizations.
- Bilingualism — French and English.
