Child Care Worker

Wage: $21.87-23.87 per hour dependent on qualifications

Full Time:  35hr/wk.

Temporary

This is a school-based program that runs mid August - June

JOB SUMMARY

 

The Child Care Worker at New Beginnings will plan and implement a developmentally appropriate childcare program, offering a nurturing environment for the care of children. The incumbent will work in close cooperation with the Child Care Supervisor, Parent Support Worker, Classroom staff and other Child Care Workers.

 

Responsibilities

  • Working within the New Beginnings Child Care Facility
  • Meet the physical requirements of working with very young children, including bending and lifting.
  • Completes daily/weekly document regarding children’s development.
  • Attends all meetings relating to this position.
  • Keeps current on local, regional and national health/development issues pertaining to children and youth.
  • Create connections with parents, which may include phone calls to check in.

Requirements and Qualifications

 

Education and Certification:

  • Must have a minimum of an Early Childhood Educator Certificate and have or be in the process of obtaining an Infant/Toddler Educator Certificate.
  • Must have a current First Aid (Child Care) Certificate.
  • Encouraged to have Food Safe Level 1 (optional).

Experience:

  • Preferred experience working with infants/toddlers
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in a licensed childcare facility

Knowledge and Skill Set

  • Have a working knowledge of the BC Early Learning Framework
  • Ability to engage with parents with the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ).
