Social Worker: OK2BME Coordinator

KW Counselling Services is looking for a Social Work Coordinator who has knowledge of and experience with issues facing LGBTQ2+ adults, children and youth and their parents or caregivers. Successful candidate will be responsible for program management, administration, training and research.  In this role some hours may also be dedicated to co-facilitating OK2BME youth groups, psychotherapy hours and/or delivering OK2BME public education sessions.

 

This is a full time position (35 hours per week) with benefits and includes a minimum of 2 evening shifts (to 8pm) per week.  This position has the flexibility to start out remotely but there is an expectation the position will move on-site when all staff return to working from the building. If electing to work remotely, a private space to provide phone and video sessions and reliable internet is required.

 

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Master degree with Professional Registration (RSW or RP) required
  • 5+ years of Post Graduate clinical experience preferred
  • Excellent public education skills including presenting to small/large groups and superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability in project management and community development
  • Experience in event planning
  • Excellent public relations skills including superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers
  • Experience conducting community-based research
  • Proven training skills and curriculum development experience
  • Skill and experience in providing group facilitation
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Comfortable discussing topics such as: youth issues, relationships, safer sex and sexual health, substance use, mental health, and HIV/AIDS with groups and individuals
  • Strong commitment to working from a non-judgemental, anti-oppression, LGBTQ2+ positive, sex positive, harm reduction approach
  • Cross-cultural experience an asset
  • Second language an asset
