KW Counselling Services is looking for a Coordinator for the Strong Moms Safe Kids (SMSK) Child Witness to Violence Group. This position will coordinate three 10-week groups for mothers who have been victims of abuse and their children who have witnessed family violence. As well as conducting psychotherapy sessions, coordinating and participating as a co-leader, this position will also supervise and provide consultation to the co-facilitators.  The successful candidate must have access to reliable internet and a private space to provide phone and video support and be available to attend in person groups and meetings when the Agency moves back to in office work.

 

Your human relations skills, organizational and time management abilities, coupled with your professional style will be important assets for this position.  Community awareness and the ability to be responsive to the needs of ethno-cultural families and provide effective outreach is needed. In addition to coordinating the SMSK group, this position will also deliver weekly counselling sessions.

 

This is a full time, salaried position with benefits for 35 hours per week.  Candidate must be available to work 2 evenings including Wednesdays when the group is running. The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Worker or related field of study required
  • Professional Registration (RSW or RP) required
  • 5 + years of Post Graduate clinical experience preferred
  • Skill and experience in providing group facilitation
  • Previous experience co-facilitating a Child Witness to Violence group an asset
  • Knowledge and experience working in the Violence Against Women (VAW) field
  • Training and experience in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Commitment to working with an anti-oppression framework
  • Training and experience in attachment and trauma theory
  • Second language an asset
