Position Summary: The Outreach/Wraparound Support Worker will have exceptional skills in outreaching to candidates and marketing the program.  A critical function of this role will be to assess participants needs and assist them by coordinating wraparound support to address their needs.  You will facilitate workshops and work closely with participants over the course of a year to assist them with completing the program. You will facilitate program information sessions, conduct participant intakes, provide employment counselling and guidance to ensure students are engaged and on track to complete training, and help with job development and placement when needed. You will develop strong connections and relationships with participants, third-party trainers, and industry guest speakers while meeting and exceeding customer satisfaction targets.

 

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

 

Outreach, Program Promotion & Participant Recruitment

  • Present the program to community partners and applicants, ensuring they understand program components, objectives, and time requirements
  • Conduct assessments of applicants based on program eligibility requirements and ensure all mandatory intake forms are completed
  • Recruit applicants ensuring intake of eligible and suitable participants via numerous methods including community partners, job boards, social media, etc.
  • Screen applications for eligibility and suitability factors; schedule interviews, conduct intake sessions, facilitate numerous information sessions

 

Wraparound and Individual Support

  • Assess clients’ employment goals and co-design a suitable action plan
  • Coordinate wraparound services with community partners to meet participant needs
  • Provide information and referral services regarding other Employment Ontario and community programs as necessary
  • Contact candidates to extend offers or communicate regrets and refer those not selected to appropriate services
  • Liaise with community partners regarding client referrals and client progress as needed
  • Provide participants with program overview and outline of training program
  • Provide one-on-one support and/or group counselling to participants on employment related topics such as job search, employer research, marketing skills, conflict resolution, career advancement, accepting feedback, etc.
  • Identify barriers to employment and provide participants with suitable referrals as needed
  • Assist participants in the exploration of employment requirements, industry accreditation, and further education/training opportunities
  • Support participants in planning and conducting job search
  • Collect and monitor program data regarding participants’ attendance, participants’ case plans, training status, training outcomes, employment status, employment outcomes, etc.
  • Maintain documentation of participant files/database, records of service including participant progress reports
  • Create Employment Ontario case files in CaMS for all participants including entering data pertaining to education, work history, NAICS and NOC numbers
  • Create Service Plan for all participants in CaMS
  • Create client files in The Career Foundation’s internal database and update information as needed
  • Ensure that 80% of participants who start training, complete all training components including job placements

 

Pre-Employment Workshop Facilitation

  • Research and develop content for pre-employment workshops with Program Coordinator
  • Facilitate and deliver engaging workshops catered to PSW careers both online and in-person
  • Provide industry-specific orientation to the workplace and employer expectations
  • Coordinate and schedule external training with training partners and industry guest speakers
  • Professionally present information to participants on topics including healthcare industry employment roles, effective job search strategies, job posting analysis, cold calling, resume & cover letter writing, interview skills, and appropriate workplace behaviour
  • Manage scheduling conflicts or participant disruptions during workshops in a proactive and professional manner

Job Retention Services / Job Development

  • Assist with outreaching to employers and securing placements for participants
  • Coach participants in job placements to ensure job retention
  • Mediate on-the-job conflict between employers and participants as needed
  • Advise employed participants on career laddering opportunities and plan next steps
  • Assist participants with re-entry into the health industry as needed
  • Provide on-going job placement services as required
  • Complete weekly check-ins with participants while in work experience
  • Purchase and distribute participant supports

 

Qualifications/ Skills Required:

  • University degree or College Certificate/Diploma required
  • Experience with employment counselling, public speaking, and workshop facilitation preferred
  • Knowledge/experience in health field or a strong desire to learn about the industry; LMI, conferences, newsletters, etc.
  • Exceptional resume and cover letter writing skills - proven ability to assist clients to develop job search tools that lead to interviews
  • Extensive job search and coaching experience
  • Excellent workshop facilitation skills with proven ability to maintain participant engagement
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles an asset
  • Must be ‘results driven’ in nature and achieve program targets
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, including participants facing employment barriers
  • Excellent ability to develop rapport with participants
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications
  • Familiarity with Employment Ontario funded programs and services an asset
  • Effective case management/record keeping skills
  • Customer service oriented - able to uphold the organization’s service standards and policies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Punctual, self-motivated/self-directed, and professional
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to multi-task / take initiative when needed   
  • Flexible to assist team members as needed to help ensure program goals are met
  • Ethical with ability to maintain confidentiality, exhibit tact, diplomacy and sound judgment
  • Capable of working under pressure with frequent interruptions; able to prioritize while working on numerous program demands
  • Able to work independently and build strong working team relationships
  • Must be flexible to work evenings and weekends as needed
