Platform Technology/Cloud DevOps Engineer

Our Information Technology Department plays a mission-critical role within this complex environment by ensuring that BC Housing has the right systems and applications in place at all times to deliver on its mandate. As a Platform Technology/Cloud DevOps Engineer, you will support the adoption of new platform technology, DevOps automation, and research new cloud-based technologies for implementation within BC Housing.
Reporting to the Manager, Platform Engineering, you’ll work with infrastructure, security, and platform services teams to design and implement resilient, highly-available systems both on-premises and in Public Cloud. You’ll develop and operate the organization’s DevOps processes by leveraging automation tools and applications, and engineer automation for provisioning, software configuration, continuous integration, continuous delivery and releases engineering processes. Your duties in this role will include researching capabilities of existing and emerging technologies, upholding change management procedures and functions, and serving as technical response on project teams as needed.
This challenging opportunity also involves providing technical support, preparing training materials/delivering technical training, participating in writing test plans, and contributing to the development of transition plans to cover the evolution of system implementation from project state to sustainment.
Your platform technology/Cloud DevOps expertise is supported by a diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant discipline as well as extensive experience in administering and supporting mission-critical applications in a complex IT environment and in working with Public Cloud infrastructure, platform and DevOps services such as AWS, Azure, etc. You also bring to the table vast experience with DevOps tools running and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines, with version control software and job execution tools, and with application logging, monitoring and performance management. You also have experience with web application environments and Microsoft Office applications. Alternatively, you have an equivalent combination of education, training and experience acceptable to the employer.
