Position Posting – Permanent, Part-Time Position

Finance Lead

HIV Edmonton is an inclusive and dynamic community-based charitable organization devoted to ZERO; zero new HIV transmissions, zero stigma and discrimination and zero AIDS related deaths.

The Finance Lead oversees the financial administration and general business operations of HIV Edmonton, works with internal and external stakeholders, ensures compliances with all legal and regulatory requirements, and manages HIV Edmonton’s financial resources with integrity and transparency.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain accounting and financial records, including all reconciliations, working papers and other records required for an audit.
  • Prepare financial statements, reports and forecasts for the Executive Director and others, as required.
  • Ensure that financial management and control processes are maintained and implement best practices.
  • Payroll and employee benefits administration.
  • GST returns and other regulatory reporting, as required.
  • Various financial projects, as required.
  • Act as a fiscal agent, as required.

Qualifications

  • Accounting Degree or Diploma; at least 5 years of related accounting experience.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered. A professional designation is an asset.
  • Excellent working knowledge of accounting principles, including accounting for accruals and restricted funds in a non-profit environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Good leadership and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and a value-added approach.
  • Competency in computer software/databases including QuickBooks, Ceridian Payroll, Microsoft Office.
