Norwood Child and Family Resource Centre is an Edmonton based non-profit organization that has been supporting children and families since 1963, with a vision of Healthy Children, Healthy Families, Healthy Communities. Our programs and services are designed to strengthen and enrich families with children birth – 6 years old. The Receptionist provides support for Norwood by answering the phones, greeting visitors, and providing administrative support for staff. As one of the first people that visitors and participants meet at the Agency, the Receptionist models the values of the Agency through a friendly, compassionate, and professional manner.

This position requires a flexible work schedule that may occasionally include evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the families.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Receptionist is responsible for the following:

  • Answering, screening and forwarding incoming phone calls
  • Screening and triaging email support requests from colleagues
  • Greeting visitors and answering basic inquiries about the Agency’s services and programs and/or referring questions to the appropriate staff and/or services in the community
  • Providing administrative support to staff, i.e. filing, printing and collating documents, booking appointments, laminating, building reference binders, etc.
  • Maintaining and ordering office supplies as needed
  • Opening, closing and securing the building as scheduled
  • Registering participants for groups and Agency events
  • Maintaining agency display board, tracking sheets, and staff directories

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a busy reception or office environment
  • Competent navigating the Internet, and using MS Office, particularly Outlook
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent multitasking skills and able to stay calm in a busy environment
  • An enthusiasm for engaging with people and excellent customer service skills
  • Comfortable working with children and families from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Intervention Record Check (findings will be reviewed on a case-by- case basis)

The starting hourly range for this role is $20.36-$22.91 per hour ($37,055-$41,696 per year) based on a 35-hour week.
