Position/Poste: Employment Services Worker – Funded by Canada Summer Jobs;  role is full-time at 35 hours per week for 16 weeks
 
Duties/Fonctions:
The purpose of this position is to work collaboratively with the Employment Services team to provide support to adults who have employment barriers in the following areas:
  • To provide a variety of employment supports to consumers in work trials and employment. Services provided will be directed by a Vocational Rehabilitation Team Leader or a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist and will be delivered within a team delivery model. The team may include the Employment Support Worker, Vocational Rehabilitation Team Leader/Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist/employer, and consumer. Services may include coaching to help consumers learn specific job skills, development of natural supports at the workplace, provision of support and coaching outside the workplace, post service follow up. 
  • Aid with accepting referrals from a variety of sources
  • Assist with coordinating assessment and vocational exploration activities so that the client can select viable vocational goals
  • Provide assistance to the Employment Services department in assessing clients’ motivation to work and disability related barriers to employment and provide supportive measures to ensure individual success
  • Assist with the development of an individual employment action plan that details the steps the client needs to achieve their vocational goal
  • Aid the Employment Services department in monitoring client progress, developing solutions when the client experiences employment retention issues or is at risk of job loss 
  • Contract local employers to gather labour market information 
  • Assist with the planning and facilitation of workshops 
  • Aid with researching various community support resources, and providing training, administration and coordination support to clients for their participation during virtual employment search group sessions 
  • Provide administration support to the Employment Services department 
  • Conduct research by contacting other agencies in order to gather information to update the community support resource library 
  • Assist with the filing and archiving of data and files 
  • General office and computer support: respond to inquiries; use computer word processing; spreadsheet and database software to prepare reports, memos and documents 
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
 
Qualifications/Compétences requises:
  • As per the Canada Summer Jobs requirements, you must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment, and be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a Social Services degree or Social Service Worker diploma program
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, Microsoft Teams)
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written
  • Able to take verbal and written direction and to follow through to completion of task and detail oriented
  • Able to work well on their own and manage their time
  • Ability to multi-task, proactively problem-solve and take initiative
 
NOTE: This role will be performed virtually; should our office re-open at greater capacity, the Employment Support
Worker will work on-site at our South West Regional office located at 920 Commissioners Road East in London,
Ontario.
 
Salary Range/Échelle des salaires: $14.25/hr.
