Recreation Assistant (Active Living Centre)

Active Living Centre (ALC)

Contract – Summer Position

 

 

North York Seniors Centre provides programs and services to promote the physical, emotional and social well-being of adults 55+ living in our diverse community.

 

This position reports to the Supervisor, Active Living Centre.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with operational activities to aid the members and volunteers with physical distancing, screening, checking in and providing information
  • Assist with the re-opening plan
  • Perform assigned administrative duties including the collection of statistical information, enrol clients as members, computer work (word processing, database updates), telephone work, and answering general inquiries
  • Assist with program planning, delivery and evaluation via telephone and virtual platforms
  • Assist with developing online and print promotional materials
  • Create special events flyers, design bulletin board displays
  • Assist with facility maintenance, up keep and general cleanliness
  • Assist with food inventory/kitchen needs as required
  • Report to the supervisor of any information, comments and/or concerns regarding the programs, status of clients, health and safety concerns and any issues involving clients, volunteers, staff or students
  • Perform any other duties as required by the supervisor
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement processes and assist the ALC Team with research and development of best practices
  • Promote and maintain a high standard of customer service that is client focused

 

Qualifications/ Skills:

      Education:                     Post-Secondary

      Experience:                   Administration, Health Administration, Recreation, Gerontology, Activation

        Other:                            Extrovert, Excellent Communication Skills, Creative, Safe food handling

 

To be eligible to participate in Canada Summer Jobs, individuals must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;
