Position: Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist, Canadian Veterans Vocational Rehabilitation Services (CVVRS) – Full time (35 hours per week)

Canadian Veterans Vocational Rehabilitation Services (CVVRS) is a joint venture comprised of two well-respected vocational rehabilitation providers. With more than 40 years experience providing comprehensive vocational rehabilitation services, Canadian Veterans Vocational Rehabilitation Services brings together a national network of service providers and vocational rehabilitation experts to ensure the best support for Veterans and their families.
The Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist (VRS) is responsible for assisting modern-day Veterans and their families adjust to civilian life by offering vocational counselling which limit or remove barriers and restore their ability to participate in the workplace. The VRS is responsible for building a suitable vocational plan for each Participant based on objective evidence provided by community health care providers. The VRS is responsible for providing exceptional case
management to assist participants progress through their vocational plan and provide additional support as required.
The ideal candidate will show an in-depth understanding of vocational rehabilitation and have a client centred approach to their work. The candidate will show great initiative and problem-solving abilities. They must be able to deal with Participant information in a confidential and professional manner. The Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist will be expected to have excellent team and interpersonal skills and be able to work comfortably under pressure while delivering quality services to veterans.
- Accept referral and review the client plan/documentation as provided by the referral source
- Assist individuals with disabilities to identify realistic employment options through initial vocational assessment, vocational testing, assessments and vocational exploration
- Conduct transferable skills analysis and labour market research
- Complete Individual Vocational Return to Work plans based on transferable skills, labour market research and capacity to engage in meaningful work
- Provide job placement services including job development, coordination of on the job supports, job site analysis and job accommodation
- Provide employment and motivational counseling
- Case manage services to ensure timely and cost effective service delivery
- Complete required service reports
- Achieve quality service standards for client satisfaction, timely delivery of service and employment outcomes
- Minimum Bachelors Degree in Psychology or related field
- Hold the Registered Rehabilitation Profession (RRP) designation; Hold or are eligible to receive Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP) designation or Canadian Certified Vocational Evaluator (CCVE) designation
- In Québec: Psychoeducators (Ps.Ed) registered with Ordre des psychoéducateurs et psychoéducatrices du Québec; or Career Counsellors registered with the Ordre des conseillers et conseillères d'orientation du Québec
- Minimum of three years’ experience working in Vocational Rehabilitation with people with disabilities
- Sensitivity to issues/barriers that people with disabilities experience
- Familiarity with current methods of vocational rehabilitation, career counseling including assessment, service planning, job search skills, job analysis and job placement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills
- Well-developed time management, organization and teamwork skills
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize, work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to document, maintain records and write reports
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Able to travel when required
