Program Description: Support services, practical assistance and referrals to clients - survivors of power-based crimes

The position is permanent part-time at 35 hours/week.

Pay rate is BCGEU Rate Step 11.

EDUCATION: Diploma in Human / Social Services Field

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years recent related experience OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience


  • Provides emotional support to clients who have been victims of power-based crimes
  • Assesses clients’ need for other services, provides them with information on helping organizations and professionals and refers to appropriate services
  • Provides crisis response and intervention as necessary
  • Supports clients’ interests and rights by performing duties such as liaising for clients with the police and Crown Counsel, obtaining information about clients’ cases including case status and hearing dates
  • Provides information on crime prevention, police and legal systems in general and specific to clients’ cases
  • Provides court support services such as explaining court processes and trial procedures and providing court orientation, information on court preparation for legal forms such as Victim Impact Statements
  • Participates in public education to raise awareness of physical or sexual assault and/or abuse
  • Consults and liaises with community service agencies to maintain up-to-date information on available resources and develop community relations
  • Maintains and provides statistics and reports regarding service delivery


  • Access to and daily use of vehicle, Class 5 driver’s license with clear Driver’s Abstract
  • Clear Criminal Record review
