Fundraising and Donor Relationships Officer

(One-year Contract, subject to renewal by mutual agreement)


The YMCA Children’s Safety Village (CVS) is a child-sized village located in the Thames Valley School Board District within Fanshawe Conservation Area. The outdoor village features 26 small buildings surrounded by streets with authentic and operational traffic signals, traffic signs, railway crossing, and a life-size school bus. In the main building there are two classrooms, used for fire and police safety lessons and emergency preparedness programming. Through hands-on safety education, the Children’s Safety Village helps reduce injuries by teaching children from kindergarten to grade 4 about individual responsibility and awareness while traveling in cars, riding bikes, walking down the street, being in the kitchen, and encountering a fire in the home.


The YMCA Children’s Safety Village programming is supported by London Police Service, London Fire Department, Middlesex-London Paramedic Service, the London District Catholic School Board, Thames Valley District School Board, and Southwestern Ontario Student Transportation Services .


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify previous pad [building] owners and appropriate contacts, re-establish relationship with the company’s and renew contracts, including needed upgrades, repairs, and maintenance
  • Identify pad owners no longer in business and recruit new/alternative pad owners, establishing a relationship with the new company and obtaining new long-term contract for pad
  • Identify previous sponsors and key contact people to re-establish relationship and obtain new sponsorships (general monetary, directed, goods, or services – one-time or annual)
  • Develop a marketing campaign to establish a roadmap forward for the Village to receive and continue to receive outside revenues
  • Establish and maintain a database of all contacts and related activities/results
  • Report/meet regularly with designated CSV Board members
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the unique needs of the Safety Village and Board


Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor relationships and campaign management required, particularly with projects/responsibilities similar to this position
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in fundraising or a related field
  • Diploma or Degree in Fundraising Management or related area preferred



  • Successful candidate will be employed by the CSV and will report to the CSV Board of Directors
  • Contract Term: one year – plus possibility of renewal, with mutual agreement
  • Salary $55,000 per annum, plus performance bonus(es) based on a graded/sliding scale based on revenue generated beyond a certain base threshold
  • Must be able to work from home/own location, have own computer, phone/cell phone, printing capabilities, reliable internet, reliable vehicle, and the ability to hold virtual meetings
  • Achievement benchmarks will be established (a set schedule for results/confirmed pad owners/sponsors as part of marketing campaign)
